For 3 days, you will be immersed in a trek in the heart of the Vosges, intoxicated by the scents of the forest and the breathtaking landscapes that are offered to you. After days of walking through the dense Vosges forest, you will regain your strength over a good local meal that you will enjoy with your group. In the evening, you will sleep one night in a real Mongolian yurt and the next night in a typical refuge of the region.
Throughout the trek, you can walk along a steep ridge that offers a panoramic view of the Honneck massif, where majestic peaks stand out against the blue sky. You will have the opportunity to learn more about the exceptional fauna and flora of this unique region of France, where chamois, deer and foxes live together in harmony.
During this expedition, you will be accompanied by François-Xavier, a passionate guide who will make you discover nature from a new angle, giving you an immersive and unforgettable experience. Day 1 | D+: 450m | 14 km | Accommodation: Yurt | Meals included: lunch, dinner
We start from the lake of Gérardmer to go quickly into the Vosges forest and cut ourselves off from civilisation for 3 days. We will cross the hamlet of Bas-Rupts before arriving at a small wild valley, where 2 yurts await us for our first night, via the Creusegoutte waterfall.
What to expect
Day 2 | D+ : 750m to 800m | 17 to 18 km km | Accommodation : Refuge | Meals included : breakfast, lunch, dinner.
We leave the Creusegoutte valley on a forest path leading to the Grosse Pierre pass (954m). Then we take a ridge path on the edge of the forest, offering a magnificent view of the Chajoux valley. We then descend through the forest to the Tourbière de Lispach lake, which we walk along before reaching a viewpoint over the Longemer lake.
Then, we head for the col des Feignes sous Vologne before starting the final climb to the refuge du Sotré (1200m).

Day 3 : D+ : 400 to 450m | 12km | Meals included : breakfast, lunch, dinner
We will start from the Sotré refuge to reach the summit of the Hohneck, offering a 360° view. Then we will follow the Vosges ridge with panoramic views of Alsace and the Black Forest. The itinerary will be adapted according to the time of return desired by the group and the guide.
What to expect
Level 1: An expedition for anyone who is interested in hiking in the wilderness:
You will have the opportunity to spend your first night in a nomadic habitat par excellence, a real Mongolian yurt with a wood stove.
For the second night of your stay, you will sleep one night in a typical refuge of the region.
Throughout your stay, you will be supervised by a certified guide who is passionate about trail running and hiking.
François-Xavier has been a mountain guide for over 10 years. He will help you discover the Hohneck region in a sporty and natural way.
The refuge and the gîte have a tasty kitchen to offer you local meals to help you discover the specialities of the Vosges mountains.
All meals are included and will be enjoyed in a warm mountain atmosphere.

The starting point (Lac de Gérardmer) is a 5-hour drive from Brussels.
You can either take a train to Saint-Dié-Des-Vosges station and then finish with a 1 hour bus ride.
You will cover about 45km in total in 3 days of trekking, with an average of about 10km per day.
To participate in this expedition, you need to feel comfortable walking an average of 12km per day for 3 days in a row.
The average difference in altitude is 500m+, with one day where we will have a strong difference in altitude reaching 750m+, and others where we will be around 450+. So it's variable throughout the trip.
Yes, both at the Sotré refuge and in the yurt you will have individual beds but you will sleep in dormitories.
Yes, but these should not exceed 5-7 kg.
This expedition includes quite long days with many differences in altitude. We do not recommend this expedition for young children. However, teenagers from 14 years of age are welcome.
Yes of course, it is possible to get there by train. Go to the station of Saint-dié-Des-Vosges and then finish with a 1 hour bus ride.
